survey of monuments
The total number of the surveyed buildings comprises more than 60 individual buildings at 34 different locations in Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Western Tibet and Nepal. The documentation includes general descriptions and pictures as well as a collection of architectural drawings, photomontages and spatial models. These results of many years of research work are shared openly to allow an exchange of knowledge among fellow researchers and everyone interested in the topic.
The continued endangerment of these important architectural monuments makes a continuation of the research activity vital. After compiling essential documentation in northern India and western Tibet, the current project is focusing on Nepal, especially the Dolpo region, in order to expand the existing research material.
